Windsurfer Pinksterevenement 2025 (june 7, 8 and 9)
The “Windsurfer Pinksterevenement” or in good English the “Windsurfer Pentecost Event” is organized every two years by the water sports association VWDTP. It is an event for the Windsurfer LT class. The Windsurfer LT is a longboard for windsurfing. It is a relatively young international one-design class. The class is growing strongly: around 300 participants regularly come to the start at international competitions.
Saturday
A large part of the participants will arrive on Friday and Saturday. There is a tour on Saturday in which all types of longboards can participate (free, registration not required).
Sunday
On Sunday morning at 11 o’clock the race for the Open Dutch Championship Long Distance will start. All corners of the Paterswoldsemeer and Hoornsemeer are visited. The first windsurfers are expected to finish at around 1 p.m. in front of the terrace of the clubhouse.
After a joint lunch (participants and volunteers) it is then time for slalom competitions. A spectacular discipline, which can be followed well by the public from the shore. A speaker will explain the surfers’ performances.
After the slalom, there will be a “steigerborrel” (in good English a jetty drink) on the terrace of VWDTP and during this drink the freestyle championship will be sailed. Here the most flexible and acrobatic windsurfers will show what else you can do with a surfboard.
The participants will conclude this day with the surfers dinner.
Monday
On Monday the third competition for the annual prize of the Dutch Windsurfer Class Association will be sailed. The intention is to sail 5 course races, 2 before lunch and 3 afterwards. These are relatively short competitions (20 to 30 minutes). And when the windsurfers step ashore exhausted on Monday afternoon, a pleasant “steigerborrel” awaits them, with lots of tasty snacks. And of course the prize-giving ceremony.
Historical competition: an event within an event
In 1975 the Dutch Windsurfer Championship was held on the Paterswoldsemeer. What could be better than to commemorate this 50th anniversary during the Windsurfer Pinksterevenement. On Saturday afternoon, a historic competition will take place with old Ten Cate Windsurfers, many of which are still equipped with a wooden boom. The organization has made an effort to bring as many old participants to VWDTP as possible. But everyone with an old Windsurfer can participate in this competition for free.
